Staying true to the mission and vision that Athens Oral Surgery Center was founded upon, we constantly strive to incorporate cutting edge technologies and biomaterials into the treatment of our patients.

These are just some of the examples of the technological advancements that are being employed and will continue to be evolved to best serve patients at Athens Oral Surgery Center.

Integrated Practice Management Systems

Integrated communications and management systems allow Dr. Tomlinson and his staff to efficiently manage traffic through the practice.  Patients may register via the internet to save time rather than filling out paperwork during their first visit.  Referring dentists and physicians may use the web page and integrated email systems to refer patients to Athens Oral Surgery Center and communicate all necessary patient clinical information.

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography has essentially become the standard of care in dental practices.  New digital imaging systems couple significantly lower doses of radiation with significantly faster processing abilities.  Imaging capabilities are dramatically improved along with the ability to manipulate the image for far greater diagnostic value, properties not available with standard radiography.

Cone Beam CT

Dr. Tomlinson uses state-of-the-art cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to acquire 3D images of the highest diagnostic quality.  The Planmeca ProMax 3D allows for the most technologically advanced surgical treatment planning for dental implants, maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial reconstruction, orthodontic evaluation, orthognathic surgery planning and execution, facial trauma evaluation and treatment, advanced evaluation of 3rd molars and other impacted teeth and surrounding anatomy.

Dr. Tomlinson makes use of the most advanced biomaterials to best benefit patients and their surgical results.  Innovative implant systems from Nobel Biocare and Zimmer allow Dr. Tomlinson to offer patients shortened treatment times to full dental rehabilitation and improved success rates.  These innovations allow for treatment planning implants to be placed immediately following tooth removal or during the same visit in select cases.  Dr. Tomlinson makes use of the latest techniques and materials for grafting and reconstruction procedures, including resorbable collagen membranes and bioactive materials to facilitate healing such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
