As we ring in the new year, we want to remind you of our oral surgery services! We are so proud to serve the Watkinsville community with high-quality, friendly services. Discover how we can help you:

Anesthesia

We understand that oral surgery may be overwhelming and cause anxiety. That’s why we use anesthesia before every procedure to ensure you experience no pain, reduce anxiety, and prevent memory of the event. Dr. Tomlinson will determine which anesthesia is best for you – IV, local, or nitrous oxide.

Bone Grafting

If a lot of time has passed since your tooth was removed, your jawbone may have started to sink and your gumline receded. Bone grafting allows us to rebuild this area of your jawbone to ensure dental implants can be placed.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great option for those who are missing teeth and want a fixed solution to the gap in their smile. Unlike dentures, dental implants are durable and fastened into your jawbone, ensuring a natural, secure smile.

Facial Trauma

Facial trauma can occur in a split second – a baseball to the face or hitting your head during a car accident, for example. Your oral surgeon, Dr. Tomlinson, is a staff oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center to help those who need immediate assistance due to facial trauma.

Jaw Surgery

A misaligned jaw can cause problems such as an improper bite, sleep apnea, difficulty chewing or speaking, chronic jaw pain, and others. Jaw surgery can realign your jaw to ensure proper function, eliminating other serious problems, as well.

Oral Pathology

Oral pathology refers to diseases within your mouth, most often found in two main categories – hard tissue or soft tissue. If you notice any unusual bumps, cuts, or lesions during your monthly, at-home mouth exam, talk to an oral surgeon right away.

Orthodontic Surgery

If you need braces, your teeth must be ready for orthodontic care. However, certain issues require orthodontic surgery to ensure a successful outcome. If you are experiencing any of the following, your orthodontist will need to reach out to an oral surgeon: impacted canines, temporary anchorage devices, surgical uprighting, or surgical corticotomy.

Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

When a tooth is removed, the gap should be prepped for prosthetics to ensure gum and bone loss does not occur. Pre-prosthetic surgery allows for the best results once the prosthetics are placed.

Teeth-in-a-Day

If you have no time to spare, Teeth-in-a-Day – also referred to as All On 4, Revitalize, or Teeth Xpress – might be the right route for you to take. Just like its name, Teeth-in-a-Day provides a full smile for patients in as little as one day. It is a single, full-span bridge that replaces the teeth in the jaw.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth removal is a swift and painless procedure to ensure your teeth do not experience issues such as overcrowding, jawbone damage, bacteria buildup, and more. Impacted wisdom teeth can produce a great deal of pain, so we highly recommend wisdom teeth removal before they start causing frustrating symptoms.
